Malmø Doc Lab will help you elevate your project in order to work with financiers and co-producers.

If you are currently working on a new documentary project and want feedback from experienced tutors and colleagues, you can now apply for the first 2020 edition of Malmø Doc Lab. It is taking place on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 in Malmö. Deadline for applying is Monday, February 3rd at noon.

The Malmø Doc Lab is a documentary initiative for the regional documentary industry in the Öresund region, helping creators to realize their current documentary project in development. Each workshop is a stand-alone event for 5-6 selected project teams and a number of observers. The aim is to help creators take the next step in their in the project development and upgrade the projects to the level needed for working with key financiers in the region and to qualify for international development programs and pitching forums.

The Malmø Doc Lab is led by Director Magnus Gertten and Producer Ove Rishøj Jensen. For this edition of Malmö Doc Lab, Charlotte Madsen from the documentary department at SVT will give a one-hour introduction to her work as a documentary commissioning editor. 

The aim with the Malmø Doc Lab is to:

• bring documentary talents into the Nordic and international documentary sector
• create a networking point for the Öresund documentary industry
• upgrade regional creators’ skills and knowledge about documentary making.

Participants can apply to take part in Malmø Doc Lab in the following ways: 

Project team/person: Team/person taking part with a selected project in the full day Malmø Doc Lab program. The team/person gets input for the further development of the project. Available seats for the Malmø Doc Lab: 4-6 project teams/persons.

Participation fee: 750 SEK for a project with one or two team members. This includes the full day program with coffee breaks and lunch. In order to apply with a project, please submit:

• A project presentation including a synopsis, filmic treatment and production plan
• Link to a pilot/trailer/selected scenes - if available
• Contact details and profiles of the key team members.

 

Observer: Single person taking part in Malmø Doc Lab with an observer status. The person takes part in the full day workshop, but does not have a project developed at the workshop. Available seats for the Malmø Doc Lab: 5 persons.

Participation fee: 400 SEK for a person. This includes the full day program with coffee breaks and lunch.
